刘劼本科、硕士毕业于武汉大学,师从雷爱文教授(杰青、长江、万人)。2014年9月前往德国莱布尼兹催化研究所攻读博士,导师为德国科学院院士、莱布尼兹协会副主席、中国化学会荣誉会士Matthias Beller教授。2017年获得博士学位后前往瑞典斯德哥尔摩大学化学系从事博士后研究,合作导师为Jan-Erling Bäckvall教授(欧洲科学院、瑞典皇家科学院及芬兰科学院三院院士,诺贝尔化学奖评委会主席)。刘劼求学和工作期间发表多篇高水平论文以及多项专利,获得了中国化学会德国分会暨留德华人化学化工学会青年化学奖,湖南省湖湘青年英才,国家级青年人才项目,并受邀参加德国林道诺贝尔奖得主大会等。
